The local expression of the Church is wherever believers gather for worship, prayer, fellowship, and the teaching of God’s Word; observe baptism and communion as established by Jesus Christ; and serve others with their God-given talents and gifts. The Church is called to work together in love and unity to make disciples for the ultimate purpose of glorifying God.
Romans 12:4-5; Hebrews 10:24-25
Akron Community Church (previously Akron Church of the Brethren) has been a part of the local community since the early 1900s. We believe the Bible is the word of God, and our mission is simple: To LOVE Jesus Christ with our whole heart. To LIVE our lives in community, upholding the infallible Word of God. And to SHARE the saving power of grace that only Jesus Christ gives.
If you are searching for a church home, we'd like you to know that there's a special place here just for you!
The primary reason we meet together is to focus our attention on God, giving Him our worship and receiving His blessing and inspiration. Each of these occasions is a special time of spiritual refreshment.
To us, studying the Bible is vital because it not only instructs us intellectually, but also guides us spiritually. We believe it and accept it as God's Word to us, a Book that is alive and relevant to life today. Learning its truths is a thrilling adventure.
For every person at every age level we offer a wealth of opportunities - special programs and ministries for children, youth, and adults which fill the church calendar. You can be sure that in this kaleidoscope of activities there's more than one place where you can be personally enriched.
Nothing quite compares to the joy of Christian friendship. That's why we make it a priority to build lasting bonds between the members of our church family - bonds of concern, accountability and genuine commitment to one another. We believe that life is meant to be lived with others in community. "The Church is called to work together in love and unity to make disciples for the ultimate purpose of glorifying God."
Just as Jesus Christ came "not to be ministered unto, but to minister..." we accept our responsibility to reach out in service to others. This applies both within the church family and outside our fellowship. We serve our local community with various weekly outreach programs, and offer opportunities to serve others abroad through missions trips and work camps.
Tim has been serving as our Senior Pastor since April 2019. Tim is an ordained pastor for Akron Community Church and was the previous pastor at Richland COB for 7 years.
